Describe your day-to-day routine as a working mom.
Mummy and Daddy take turns to get Rauf ready for school and I’ll prepare a quick breakfast for the boys. After the boys have left for school and work I would then attend to my morning ritual; breakfast over Ellen Show, some chores and get ready for work. I would go through emails and organize my task for the day at home. I’d head to the studio at lunch and I’d leave work around 7.30 depending on my load for the day and I will then fetch Rauf from his grandma’s place. We have a 5 minutes radius between our place, grandma’s and the studio and we’d like to keep it that way 😊 We’ll spend some quality time before we tuck him to bed around 9. Husband and I will have a quick dinner, catch up and discuss work for a bit over our favourite shows before we turn in for the day.

How would you describe your motherhood journey?
It’s been a roller coaster. I had to learn the ropes of being a mum by myself during the first couple of years as my husband (Anis) used to go away for months at a time few times a year at his previous job. Now that I’m running the company with him full time it got even harder and we often find ourselves on constant survival mode. I read parenting books a lot and while they’re helpful, I’ve also learnt that there are no specific ways to raise a child. All mums are doing the best they can in the best way they could. We are also extremely blessed to have strong support system from my parents I could not thank them enough.

What was the one thing that you wished you knew before becoming a mom?
I don’t think anyone or anything could truly prepare you ahead. It’s one of those things you have to experience to fully know what you’re dealing with. Oh but there’s one thing I wish I knew, I wont be needing those fancy Diaper Genie.

How has your style changed since becoming a mom?
I find myself simplifying these days; I enjoy understated sophisticated clothing that is not trendy but timeless. I also had to change to accommodate these extra “curves”. I’ve learnt the art of dressing in clothing that disguise those least favorable areas that makes you look skinnier than you actually are. Work with what we have mummies 🙂

What are the three mom essentials that you can’t live without?
Husband, phone & books/toys

Is there anything that you swear you’d never do as a mom that has gone out the window?

I could have sworn that I would never raise my voice with my child. Raising a matured, highly-opinionated and strong-willed 4 year old that never seemed to run our of energy is hardddd. Mummy often slipped and mummy’s really sorry Rauf.

Any tricks of the trade that you’ve picked up along the way?
Tell the truth and follow through. Rauf knows enough if he doesn’t clean up, those toys on the floor go straight into the bin bag.

What do you love most about being a mom?
Having someone teach you to love unconditionally.

What’s your favourite thing to do with your child?
Ice-Cream date Sunday

What surprised you the most about being a mom?
The level of empathy you’ve gained towards people.

What is the one thing about your mom that you love most?
Always seeking for the good in others

If you could do anything for your child, what would it be?

Be present a lot more.

What has motherhood taught you?
That mums hold the power to the future. The changes we want to see in the world start within our children and ourselves

What do you want your child to remember about you?
I would like for them to follow their dreams no matter how silly they are, to celebrate being different, to always be kind

Did you have any traditions with your mom that you now share (or would like to share) with your child?
I don’t really have any but I would love to start baking for Sunday brunch with him now that he’s shown interest towards baking!
